Warren Central quarterback Nash Morgan focused on wins, not offers, ahead of junior season
VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Warren Central quarterback Nash Morgan is entering his junior season with one goal in mind — winning.
Morgan has been the Vikings’ starting quarterback since his freshman year and has helped maintain the program’s winning tradition. Now heading into Year 3 under center, he’s confident the team is poised for another strong run.
“I’m really excited because we have a lot of potential just like always, but we’ve been really working hard and we still have that taste from last year when we were just one game from where we wanted to be,” Morgan said.
Although the Vikings lost the majority of last year’s starters to graduation, they return several key players, including Morgan, who is stepping into a leadership role.
“We have some leaders on the team and plenty of experienced guys,” he added.
Morgan’s journey to QB1 began as a freshman in 2023 when he earned the starting job early in the season. He finished that year with eight passing touchdowns and led Warren Central to a 9-3 record and a district championship.
In his sophomore campaign, Morgan was named the district’s Most Outstanding Quarterback after throwing for 1,372 yards and nine touchdowns. The Vikings posted a 9-4 record, captured a second consecutive district title, and advanced to the North State Championship.
Following last season’s breakout performance, Morgan is now considered one of the top quarterbacks in the state by The Clarion Ledger.
Despite the growing recognition, Morgan remains focused on team success rather than individual accolades.
“I’m not really worried about scholarships right now. I just want to win games,” he said. “We gone give it all we got, so you better not count us out.”
Warren Central opens the 2025 season on Aug. 29 when they travel to face Clinton High School.
