Bruce Robinson has been named the head girls basketball coach at Loyd Star High School. Robinson was approved by the school board on Tuesday as he accepted the position after spending the last couple of years at Porter’s Chapel Academy.

Robinson brings nearly four decades of coaching experience to the Lady Hornets program and has built a strong reputation throughout Mississippi during his career. He previously spent nine seasons as the head boys basketball coach at Warren Central High School. His best season with the Vikings came during the 2017-18 campaign when the team finished 22-7 and advanced to the second round of the playoffs.

Throughout his coaching career, Robinson has worked at multiple schools across the state. He served as an assistant coach for both the boys and girls basketball teams at Yazoo City and later became a head coach at Madison Central, Clinton, Greenville and Warren Central.

Robinson also spent time as an assistant coach at Jackson Prep. In recent years, he served as the head girls basketball coach at Clinton Christian and was the head boys and girls basketball coach at Porter’s Chapel Academy.

Robinson will now take over a Loyd Star girls basketball program that finished 17-9 during the 2025-26 season.
