Warren Central tennis team honored by city of Vicksburg

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — The city of Vicksburg recognized the Warren Central High School tennis team Monday during the Mayor and Board of Aldermen meeting. The Vikings packed the meeting room with players and coaches after recently winning the state championship.

“These kids have been great representatives of not only Warren Central, but Vicksburg as a whole. They kept God first, family second, and then we came together to bring it home,” Head Coach Steve Summers said.

Back in April, Warren Central defeated West Jones 5-2 to claim the Class 6A state championship. The Vikings also had several players compete in individual matches for state titles.

During the meeting, the team also received a plaque from the Board of Mayor and Aldermen in recognition of its accomplishments.
