17-year-old arrested for killing his grandmother in a Mississippi church

MONROE COUNTY, Miss. (VDN) — A 17-year-old has been arrested for killing his grandmother in a Mississippi church. Jadynn Hamilton has been charged with the murder of Ollie Hamilton, 73, of Athens.

According to Monroe County Sheriff Crook, Deputies responded to a 911 call for assistance when family discovered Mrs. Hamilton severely beaten inside a local church building where she attended on Burr Rd. 

Investigators were called to the scene and began to take statements and process the scene. 

During the investigation, evidence began to point to Jadynn, the grandson of Mrs Ollie, who was allegedly present when the assault occurred.

Jadynn was taken into custody and more evidence was gathered. He would later confess to the crime.

“I can’t imagine how hard this is on this community. There are so many good people in and around that church and my heart goes out to them and the family,” Crook said. “This is a tragedy of the worst kind, and it can tear apart families.”

This case is still under investigation.
