VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Warren Central High School’s ninth-grade boys’ and girls’ basketball teams earned a pair of crosstown victories over Vicksburg High School on Thursday night, marking a strong mid-season statement for both squads.

The Lady Vikes opened the evening with a 25-17 win, giving WC freshman head coach Jessolyn Farmer her first victory over the Missy Gators since taking over the program. Warren Central held a slim 12-9 lead at halftime before maintaining control throughout the second half. Solid defense and timely free throws helped the Lady Vikes close out the game without ever relinquishing their advantage.

Da’Mariya Cosby led WC with seven points, followed by Tyra Williams with five. Madelynn Wallace contributed four points—all at the free-throw line—while Armani Marley also scored four. Kabria Hodge and Harmony Ester added two points each, and Detrianna Butler hit a free throw to round out the scoring.

Vicksburg was led by Morgan Atkinson with five points. Rackiyah Johnson added three, Shaniya Matthews scored two, and Keasia Hatchett and Nykeria Truitt each chipped in one point.

The Warren Central boys capped the night with a convincing 57-32 victory. Jarrad Williams paced the Vikings with 12 points, and Henry Trisby followed with 10. Jordan Taylor and Cameron Zellous each scored nine, Braylen Selvy added seven, Jordan Young scored six, and Ja’Ven Lee finished with four.
