Registration for the 12th annual Malcolm Butler Football Camp is now open
VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Malcolm Butler will host his 12th annual football camp on July 18 at Vicksburg Memorial Stadium as registration officially opens Thursday at noon.
The Malcolm Butler Camp is open to students in first through 12th grade and will run from 7:30 a.m. until noon. Registration will remain open through May 31 at 11 p.m., although organizers announced walk-up registrations will also be accepted on the day of the event. However, walk-up participants may not be guaranteed a camp T-shirt in their preferred size.
The camp will feature football drills, skills training and instruction from Butler and other football professionals. Organizers said the event is designed to help young athletes improve their football abilities while also providing an opportunity to interact with experienced players and coaches.
Butler, a Vicksburg native, is best known for making one of the most iconic plays in NFL history when he intercepted a pass at the goal line to help the New England Patriots defeat the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl XLIX. He went on to play multiple seasons in the NFL and earned a reputation as one of the league’s top defensive backs during his career.
Organizers encouraged parents and students to register early for the event, which has become a longtime summer tradition in the Vicksburg community.
