MADISON COUNTY, Miss. (VDN) — Mikey Johnson, a Vicksburg native, has been named to the All-State football team following a dominant 2025 season at Germantown High School. The Mavericks standout earned the prestigious honor after excelling on both sides of the ball and playing a key role in Germantown’s successful campaign.

Johnson starred at defensive back, helping GHS finish the season with an 8-4 record and advance to the second round of the MHSAA playoffs. Known for his physical play and strong instincts, Johnson compiled 60 total tackles, four interceptions, 10 pass deflections and one forced fumble during his senior season. His consistent performance in the secondary made him one of the top defensive players in the state.

In addition to his defensive impact, Johnson was also a reliable offensive weapon for the Mavericks. He finished the season with 19 receptions for 293 yards and four touchdowns, contributing in key moments throughout the year.

Johnson’s standout play also earned him All-District honors, and he was selected to compete in the Bernard Blackwell All-Star Football Game. Playing for the North Team, Johnson helped secure a 42-14 victory and caught one touchdown pass in the contest.

Earlier this month, Johnson signed to continue his football career at Jackson State University, where he will join the Tigers program at the collegiate level.
