A man has been arrested in Warren County after authorities say he stole utility wire from a subdivision off U.S. Highway 61 North.

According to the Warren County Sheriff’s Office, the theft occurred July 21 in the Blakely Subdivision.Mitt Goza, of WCSO, obtained security footage that allegedly showed the suspect driving a distinctive 2005 purple Ford Mustang.

Two days later, Goza spotted the vehicle traveling on U.S. Highway 61 North and conducted a traffic stop. Deputies reported finding utility wire and wire cutters in plain view inside the back seat of the vehicle.

Larry Goodwin, 45, of Greenville, was arrested and charged with felony malicious mischief and possession of burglary tools. Justice Court Judge Randy Lewis set Goodwin’s bond at $50,000.

Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said the investigation later revealed that Goodwin was allegedly selling stolen utility wire outside the state. Pace added that the investigation remains ongoing and that additional arrests could be made.
