Vicksburg sweeps Natchez for first win; Warren Central tops Morton

Vicksburg High School’s volleyball team achieved its first win of the season by sweeping Natchez in three sets. Warren Central also secured a victory on the road against Morton, completing their match with a close third set.

Vicksburg High School’s volleyball team picked up its first win of the season Tuesday at home, while Warren Central also found success with a road victory over Morton.

The Missy Gators swept Natchez in three sets, winning 25-6, 26-24 and 25-17.

”They truly worked hard and they worked together to get the job done,” VHS Head Coach Linda Johnson said.

Vicksburg dominated the opening set before facing a much tougher challenge in the second. The Missy Gators battled their way to a 26-24 victory before closing out the match with a 25-17 win in the third set.

Harmony Harris led VHS with 12 points and five digs, while Jermeria Wright finished with 10 points and seven digs.

Vicksburg’s junior varsity team also earned a victory, defeating Natchez in two sets, 25-2 and 25-14. Taliyah McDaniel led the way with 16 points and one ace, while Madisyn Kimble finished with 13 points and two aces.

Warren Central

Warren Central went on the road Tuesday and swept Morton in three sets, 25-13, 25-9 and 26-24.

The Lady Vikes controlled the first two sets before facing a battle in the third. Morton pushed Warren Central past 25 points, but the Lady Vikes eventually secured a 26-24 victory to finish the sweep.

Kylie Hearn led Warren Central with 15 points and four aces. KeKe McKay added 14 points and three aces, while Kyla Pigg and Audie Evans each finished with 12 points.
