ERDC employees invited local students, first responders and community members to the Vicksburg campus to remember and reflect on the service, sacrifice and resilience demonstrated in the aftermath of the attacks.

Dr. Lucy Priddy, ERDC Deputy Director, opened the ceremony with welcome remarks and introduced the premiere of ERDC’s remembrance video, “Remembrance, Response and Resilience”.

Local students from St. Aloysius, Porter’s Chapel and Vicksburg Warren’s JROTC students participated in the program by readings recognizing the four flights at the center of the attacks: American Airlines Flight 11, which struck the North Tower of the World Trade Center; United Airlines Flight 175, which struck the South Tower; American Airlines Flight 77, which struck the Pentagon; and United Airlines Flight 93, which crashed near Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

The JROTC students also held a special presentation of colors while the St. Aloysius Band performed the National Anthem. Porter’s Chapel students placed American Flags along the walkway to honor those who had fallen in the horrific attacks.
