A 9-year-old Vicksburg native has published a book.
A’nyiah Williams is a 9-year-old published author who her family believes has just become the youngest person in the United States to publish a nonfiction chapter book. According to A’nyiah’s mother, Michelle Williams, they have reached out to Guinness World Records for verification. “This kid is unique in that she didn’t simply create a story in her mind, as do most children. But rather, she had to learn to, and then conduct research for many of the facts in her book to aid her creativity,” said mother, Michelle Williams.
Mom goes on to say that A’nyiah learned to phonetically read at the age of two, and this past summer, when most eight and nine-year-olds were just completing 3rd grade, she tested among the 7th and 8th graders in English. A’nyiah says on her book cover, “You’ll find me a bubbly, positive 9-year-old, with an easy-going “can do anything “spirit! I’m a 6th grader (although where I live, most kids my age are in 4th grade). I am the oldest child of two. I have a little brother, Malcolm. My favorite color is purple. I love all things science-related and almost all animals. I especially love cats! And I love to travel, ride my bike, run around, and play in the dirt (LOL)! While my calling includes female empowerment and inspiring females to be strong, accomplished, freethinkers; I love to help everyone, especially all kids. I am intrigued by research and learning new things, which inherently makes me have a love for science! I would like to help show how science when interpreted correctly, compliments God and His word! When I grow up, I am determined to become president of the United States, a judge and/or lawyer (like my mommy), and a scientist, among other things!”
The ambitious young A’nyiah leaves a message to her readers; “I love reading, researching, learning and inspiring others to do the same! My goal is to both enlighten and inspire the reader to keep researching and learning as we embark on this fun-filled journey through science! Hold my hand and walk with me through the jungle of science as we explore many parts of science, fitting to both the young and the old alike! Let’s go!”
