Former Warren Central High School softball star Abigail Morgan has transferred to the University of Southern Mississippi. Morgan, who was VDN’s 2023 Softball Player of the Year, made the announcement over social media on Friday.
On Wednesday, Morgan announced she was entering the transfer portal.
“After much consideration, I have decided to enter the transfer portal,” Morgan said on Twitter.”I would like to thank my teammates as well as coaches at Memphis for the experience and memories! With that said I am entering the portal as a RHP with 3 years left of eligibility.”
Morgan spent her freshman year pitching at the University of Memphis. She pitched 81 innings where she brought in 35 strikeouts and also helped the Tigers to a win over Tennessee Tech.
At WC, Morgan played under former Head Coach Dana McGivney where she was one of the top pitchers in the state of Mississippi. She racked up 293 strikeouts, a .385 batting average, and 40 RBIs.
Morgan will now be playing under USM Head Coach Natalie Poole.
