VICKSBURG, Miss.—Vicksburg High School track & field athletes Amiyah Hall and Zion Knox recently earned first-place ribbons in their last competition. They both competed in the Hattiesburg High School Powerade Relays.

Hall:

Hall came in first place in the 100m where she finished with a time of 12.3. She managed to outdo 71 other runners and earn high recognition.

“I felt real good when I won because it was heavy winds but my mentality was great along with everyone pushing me through,” Hall said.

Hall also participated in the 4×200 meter relay where VHS finished in third place. The sophomore now has her eyes set on Friday when the team is scheduled to compete at Madison Central.

“I’m trying to get under 12, so I’m going to push myself so that I can finish out on top,” Hall added.

Knox:

Knox is coming off a first-place win in the triple jump where she leaped 39’5 which was a personal record for her. After finishing first out of 32 jumpers, Knox also came in second place in the long jump and third place in the high jump.

“I’ve had some good coaching so I was expecting this to happen,” Knox said. “I’ve been working hard and lifting a lot of weights so that I can make it to state.”

Knox is a freshman at VHS and both her and Hall are coached by Deatra Cable.
