Anthony McCloud Surpasses 1,000 Career Points; Flashes Crushed Benton Academy

Vicksburg, Miss.-Anthony McCloud had a breakout performance for St. Aloysius as he surpassed 1,000 career points in a 68-21 win against Benton Academy. McCloud scored a total of 29 points on Monday and now sits with 1,001 career points.

“This feels good because I’m the second person in school history to do it and it’s always been a personal goal for me,” McCloud said. “Now that I’ve reached this goal I want to lead my team as far as I can this year before playing college ball.”

McCloud started the game off hot by scoring 21 points in the first quarter. He ended his Monday night on the court with two nasty dunks including a couple of 3-pointers as he sat out the entire second half. McCloud is now the second player in St. Al’s history to surpass 1,000 career points behind Chase Smith who was the first.

Carter Henderson scored 10 points in the win and Dru Gleese added eight. Tre Lee put up five points and Lanier Lambiotte scored four points. Carson Henderson and Carson Gleese both added three points each while Sadler Lambiotte, Grant Gattle and Laken Bradley all scored two points.

Lady Flashes:

The Lady Flashes fell short 34-30 after making a first-half comeback to keep their chances alive. St. Al was down 17-6 in the first quarter but with the help of Olivia Larsen, Megan Theriot and Elle Larsen, the Lady Flashes only trailed 23-18.

Theriot led St. Al with eight points while Larsen added seven. Annslee Averett, Mallory Hobson, and Farrell Roberson all scored four points while Larson put up three points.

The Flashes will travel to play Adams County Christian School on Tuesday.
