Britton and Theriot are all set for the 2024 softball season

With softball season quickly approaching, two of St. Aloysius’s best batters from last season are ready to get things rolling. Ruthie Britton and Megan Theriot are two huge contributors to the Lady Flashes program, especially once they step up to the plate.

Britton:
The name “Ruthie Britton” came alive in 2023 when she had her breakout season. She helped the Lady Flashes to the postseason as well as smashing two home runs over the fence last year.
Britton ended last season with 15 hits and 22 RBIs and she now plans to help her team to new goals as things are looking promising for the Lady Flashes.
“I think this will be one of our best years because we have a great infield and outfield along with a good set of players and great players,” Britton said.
Ruthie’s biggest contributions came from her batting where she is described as a “strength hitter” who has a special ability to connect her bat with the ball which played a role in her hitting St. Al’s first home run in years.
“Those were my first home runs and it meant a lot because my dad is my coach so it was special for him to see that,” Britton added.
Now that Britton has made a name for herself, she is all set to help her team earn everything they’ve worked for in 2024.
“I want us to make it further than last year and eventually compete for a championship.”
Theriot:
Since junior high school, Megan Theriot’s name has been in the spotlight when it comes to softball. The rising sophomore hasn’t yet faced a pitcher that she couldn’t earn a hit on with her effective swing.
Like every year, Theriot has high hopes for St. Al.
“I’m really excited about the upcoming season and I have a lot of confidence about how far we’re going to get this year and our work is going to show on the field,” Theriot said.
Finishing last year with an impressive 27 hits and a .415 batting average, Theriot has already put her freshman season behind her as she is focused on this year and leading St. Al to an even better season in 2024.
“We’re focused on making it to the championship and winning the championship,” Theriot said.
Along with being a great hitter, Theriot has also quickly become an expert at base running while also leading the Lady Flashes in stolen bases.
Although she’s one of the youngest players playing varsity, Theriot is one of Warren County’s top hitters and she’s only getting stronger as time progresses.
“I’m feeling the pressure to make sure I keep it up but I’m going to continue to work hard and communicate with my team and love the game.”
The wait is officially over for Britton and Theriot along with the Lady Flashes as they open their season this afternoon against Carroll Academy and Calhoun Academy.
St. Al will be led by Head Coach Mike Foley.
