VICKSBURG, Miss. – The City of Vicksburg and Vicksburg Main Street Program invite the community to the annual lighting of the Christmas Tree at Washington Street Park this Friday, November 29 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The event is free and open to the public and will include live Christmas music performed by Julie Crouse, family fun, and visits with Santa Claus. Mayor George Flaggs Jr. will light the 60-foot tall Christmas tree at 6:00 pm.

The lighting of the tree is the city’s official kick off to the holiday season. Vicksburg’s Christmas Parade of Lights will be held on Sunday, December 8, 2024 at 5 PM, led by this year’s Grand Marshal Joyce Clingan. The parade will transform downtown Vicksburg into the Land of Sweets, with a theme inspired by The Nutcracker.

Other holiday events include the arrival of the CPKC Holiday Express, the Vicksburg-Warren Chamber of Commerce’s Holiday Market, Reindeer Run, and O’ Christmas Tree Home Tour.
