VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — In this weeks Board of Mayor and Aldermen meeting, a resolution was passed to initiate critical infrastructure improvements to Summit Ridge. The City of Vicksburg is taking action to fulfill its longstanding obligations to Summit Ridge Development as outlined in the 1987 annexation decree.

“The residents of Summit Ridge have been a part of Vicksburg for decades, and it is time we fulfill our commitment to provide them with the services and infrastructure they deserve,” said Mayor George Flaggs, Jr. “Today’s resolution is not just about meeting obligations – it’s about equity and ensuring that all areas of our city receive the same level of service and care.”

Recent upgrades include completion of installed water lines and fire hydrants in the area to enhance fire protection and water access.

The newly adopted resolution outlines additional improvements, including:

  • Grading, draining, and improving existing streets to ensure safe and reliable access.
  • Installing sewer lines to provide essential sanitary services to the development.
  • Installing street lighting to enhance safety and visibility throughout the area.

Additionally, the City will establish a dedicated right of way and work with engineering services to design a 20-foot roadway with two 10-foot lanes.
