Dangerously cold air will hit our area Sunday night and wintry precipitation is likely to hit our area starting Monday.
The National Weather Service in Jackson has updated their prediction for the upcoming storm. A mix of wintry precipitation including sleet, snow, and freezing rain is forecast for the area north of us. Warren County is just below the projected snowfall line, but snow is possible. On Monday afternoon our area has a 45% chance of precipitation and temperatures will begin a dip below freezing throughout Tuesday. The coldest temperatures are likely Tuesday night through Wednesday morning. Lows in the teens are expected in Warren County and it will dip into single digits just north of us.
The wind chill on Wednesday morning could make it feel like it is in the single digits in our area. Prepare for a long-duration freeze with very cold temperatures.

The likelihood of precipitation in our area is 45% on Monday afternoon. A mix of wintry precipitation including sleet, snow, and freezing rain will begin to the west and north of us Sunday night. The threat will spread southeast through Monday and Monday night. Heavy snow is possible across far northern parts of Mississippi, especially north of US Highway 82. There will be lighter accumulations of sleet, snow, or ice across the central part of the state. Warren County is just below the probable snow line, but a layer of ice may coat the area on Monday.Â
Power outages will be possible, and travel is expected to become more difficult as the event unfolds.
