Delhi Charter’s Deandra Young signed to play for Louisiana Christian University
Delhi Carter High School football standout Deandra Young recently signed to Louisiana Christian University on a collegiate scholarship, marking a significant milestone in his athletic career.
Young, a standout running back for the Gators, solidified his commitment during a signing day ceremony last Friday, officially joining the ranks of LCU’s football program. Throughout his tenure at Delhi Carter High, Young displayed exceptional talent on the field, culminating in impressive stats of 4,096 rushing yards and 61 touchdowns by the end of his high school career.
His journey to success began in 2021 when Young earned a spot on the All-District Second Team as a sophomore. The following year, in 2022, he played a pivotal role in leading DC to a District Championship with a remarkable 10-2 record, earning recognition as the District Offensive MVP and securing a spot on the All-Northeast Louisiana Second Team.
During his senior year, Young continued to shine, amassing 1,700 rushing yards and earning his second consecutive District Offensive MVP title. Additionally, his versatility was on display as he showcased his skills as a defensive back, garnering praise and
multiple honors, including the prestigious Beast of the Week Award.
Despite his accolades, Young’s accomplishments culminated in an appearance at the All-American Bowl Game, where he contributed to his team’s victory and claimed the Championship Ring.
Beyond his athletic prowess, Young’s dedication to academics is evident in his solid 3.3 GPA, showcasing his commitment both on and off the field. As Young transitions to Louisiana Christian University, his exceptional
skill set and competitive spirit are poised to make a significant impact on the team as he vies for a coveted starting position.
