EPA Seeks Nominations for Farm, Ranch, and Rural Communities Advisory Committee

WASHINGTON, DC – The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced a solicitation for nominations to serve on its Farm, Ranch, and Rural Communities Federal Advisory Committee (FRRCC). The FRRCC, established in 2008, provides independent policy advice, information, and recommendations to the EPA Administrator. It focuses on environmental issues and policies important to agriculture and rural communities.
“The FRRCC provides a venue for agricultural stakeholders to offer meaningful feedback to EPA on various policies and programs,” said Rod Snyder, Senior Agriculture Advisor to the Administrator. “The work of this committee is more important than ever as the FRRCC helps inform the priorities of EPA’s newly created Office of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.”
Earlier this year, the FRRCC issued policy recommendations to Administrator Michael S. Regan. These recommendations outlined how EPA’s programs can support and accelerate U.S. agriculture’s climate goals. They include partnership opportunities to help farmers and ranchers reduce greenhouse gas emissions and adapt to more frequent extreme weather events. In response, Administrator Regan established EPA’s first-ever Office of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. This office ensures long-term collaboration with agricultural and rural stakeholders.
Also, the EPA will select members from various relevant sectors. Members may represent farmers, ranchers, rural communities, allied industries, academia, state, local, and tribal governments, and nongovernmental organizations.
Submit nominations for an appointment to the FRRCC by September 5, 2024, with the subject line “FRRCC Membership 2024.” Make submissions here. Include a résumé or curriculum vitae and a statement of interest with the nomination. Letters of support and recommendation are accepted but not mandatory.
