Gators Earned Wins Over South Pike in their Season Opener
Vicksburg, Ms-Vicksburg High School boys and girls basketball teams picked up a road win against South Pike on Tuesday night. Tonight’s win marked the season opener for both teams as they secured victories.
Missy Gators won 50-37:
Zion Harvey hit a 3-pointer in the first quarter while Cynia Johnson hit a host of inside shots. Carjessa Albert, Jordan Grace, and Raylyn Parson all got on the board in the second quarter. Harvey and Johnson both dominated in the second half while Keria Watson hit a 3-pointer.
Johnson led with 19 points and Harvey added 18. Watson finished with seven points while Grace, Parson, and Albert all had two points.
VHS Boys:
The boys took down South Pike 59-45 as freshman Jaquez Jones had a huge night with 24 points in his first varsity start.
Javeion Perkins did most of his damage in the first quarter for VHS as he finished with 10 points on the night. Sophomore Brycen Jones picked up things in the second half as he added 10 points as well on the board. Kris Washington knocked down two 3-pointers for the Gators and ended the night with nine points while Sedret Maxwell added four points and Jaquez Marshall scored two points.
The Gators will travel to Lanier on Thursday.
Warren Central girls:
Warren Central girls’ basketball team took a 60-24 loss to Germantown. Camara Evans scored 16 points for WC. Arrionna Jenkins added four points and Chanice Anderson hit a 3-pointer. Ana Bridges and Madison Ward both scored two points.
