VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — The United Way of West Central Mississippi has launched a new Volunteer Hub aimed at connecting local residents with meaningful ways to give back. Now live at unitedwayvicksburg.org, the online platform makes it easier for individuals, families, schools, and businesses to find and register for volunteer opportunities.

“We knew it was time for a more streamlined and accessible way to connect people with service opportunities,” said Alyssa Lick, Director of Marketing and Resource Development. “The Volunteer Hub puts everything in one place—whether you want to serve once, make a long-term commitment, or register a group.”

The hub allows users to search current volunteer needs, sign up to help, and even submit opportunities of their own. Whether it’s stocking shelves at a food pantry, mentoring youth, supporting literacy programs, or helping with community clean-up efforts, the platform offers a wide range of ways to get involved.

“This isn’t just a sign-up form,” Lick said. “It’s a space where community partners can highlight their needs, and volunteers can find real, hands-on ways to be part of the solution.”

The Volunteer Hub aligns with United Way’s mission to advance the common good and supports its four impact areas: Youth Opportunity, Community Resiliency, Lifelong Literacy, and Financial Security.

“We know that time is one of the most valuable gifts someone can give,” said Michele Connelly, Executive Director of United Way of West Central Mississippi. “This tool helps ensure every hour of service is meaningful and well spent.”

Since its launch, the hub has drawn more than 100 site visitors, with several already expressing interest in local volunteer opportunities.

The tool is also integrated with the new Vicksburg MS Connect app, allowing users to view and submit volunteer opportunities directly through the mobile platform.

Organizations looking to partner with United Way can register their agency online, post opportunities, and start connecting with potential volunteers right away.

“This is just the beginning,” Connelly said. “We’re excited to see the momentum grow as more people discover the hub and join us in building a stronger, more connected community.”
