Gloria Dean Jones: 1953-2025

VICKSBURG, Miss. — Funeral services for Gloria Dean Jones will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 5, in the chapel of W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home, with the Rev. Johnnie Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 6 p.m. Friday, April 4, at the funeral home.

Gloria Dean Jones passed away on March 31 at River Region Medical Center following a brief illness. She was 72.

She retired as a registered nurse and served as an officer in the U.S. Air Force. She was a member of the nurse’s association and attended Mt. Zion M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Barbara Cook Jones, and her brother Willie Jones.

She is survived by her son, Michael Jones of Vicksburg; her daughter, Christina Jones of Vicksburg; three brothers, Ernest Jones and David Jones, both of Vicksburg, and Elbert Jones of Atlanta; and three sisters, Verma Jones of Vicksburg, Norma Lee Jones of Birmingham, Ala., and Lisa Jones of Oklahoma. She also leaves behind four grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.
