GOODMAN – The Holmes Community College Bulldogs opened their home slate with a 15-13 win here Thursday over the Copiah-Lincoln Community College Wolves.

The Wolves got on the scoreboard in the first quarter when they took advantage of a Bulldog miscue and led 7-0 with 4:08 left in the first quarter.

Holmes got on the scoreboard in the second quarter when the Wolves snapped the ball over the punter’s head and it sailed out of the endzone for a safety, and Co-Lin clung to a 7-2 lead with 4:49 left before halftime.

The Bulldogs got on the scoreboard with 1:56 left in the quarter when B.J. Johnson hauled in a 13-yard pass from Chase Richardson. The snap was bobbled on the extra point, and Holmes held an 8-7 lead at halftime.

Holmes then went up 15-7 in the third when Dandreyus Giles got his second interception return for a touchdown this season when he took it in from 30 yards out. Dan Lindsay‘s extra point was good with six minutes to go in the third.

The Wolves’ final points came early in the fourth. The two-point conversion failed, and Holmes remained in the lead for the remainder of the game.
