Howard Eugene Jennings Jr. 1957-2026
He was 68 years old
VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) —
At 68 years old, Howard Eugene Jennings Jr. completed his earthly journey and entered the presence of the Savior he loved with all his heart. After a courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease, he passed peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of faith, devotion, and love that will continue to guide those who knew him.
To know Howard was to know a man whose heart belonged first to Jesus Christ. His faith was not simply something he professed—it was the compass by which he lived. Through seasons of joy and seasons of struggle, he trusted God faithfully, finding strength, hope, and peace in His promises.
Howard was a devoted husband who cherished the love of his life, his wife Pamela Jennings of 44 years. Together they built a life filled with laughter, faith, unwavering partnership, and countless treasured memories. He was also a proud and loving father to his children, Jennifer Rouse (Justen), Andrea Strickland (Trey) and Curt Jennings (Jessica), and a grandfather to his three grandchildren (Jacob Rouse, Jacie Rouse, and Calhan Strickland) who were among his greatest blessings. He is also survived by his cherished siblings, Carol Brown, Kathy Leonard, Michael Jennings and many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends whose lives were forever enriched by knowing him.
Howard was preceded in death by his loving parents, Howard Jennings Sr. and Evelyn Jennings.
One of Howard’s greatest passions was flying. He felt most alive above the clouds, where the worries of the world seemed smaller and the beauty of God’s creation stretched endlessly before him. Whether at the controls of an airplane or sharing stories of his adventures in the sky, aviation brought him immense joy and reflected his adventurous spirit.
Parkinson’s disease challenged his body, but it never diminished his character, his faith, or his love for others. He faced each obstacle with courage and determination, inspiring those around him through his perseverance and grace.
While his family grieves the loss of a beloved husband, father, and friend, they find comfort in knowing that he has been made whole and is now soaring higher than ever before. The man who loved the skies has taken his final flight home.
He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished. His faith, his kindness, his love for family, and his adventurous spirit will remain in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
“Well done, good and faithful servant.” — Matthew 25:23
