William Joseph “Bill” Monsour

William Joseph “Bill” Monsour, age 76, passed away on June 7, 2026, in Ridgeland, Mississippi.

Bill was born on October 10, 1949, in Vicksburg, Mississippi, the youngest of four children born to George and Janie Belle Monsour. He lived a life marked by kindness, loyalty, and devotion to the people he loved. Bill never met a stranger, and he had a way of making others feel welcome and valued from the very first conversation.

Bill married the former Linda Shannon in 1971, and together they built a beautiful life centered on family. He and Linda raised their three sons, Greg, Chad, and Todd, in Vicksburg, where they made their home for many years before relocating to Brandon in 2016 to be closer to their children and grandchildren. His greatest joy came from being with his family, and he treasured every gathering, milestone, and memory shared with them. He was a loving husband, a proud father, a devoted grandfather, and a joyful great-grandfather whose presence will be deeply missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Janie Belle Monsour; his brothers, James “Monk” Monsour and Eddie Monsour; and his nephews, Neil Monsour and Steve Williams. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Linda Monsour; his sons, Greg Monsour and his wife Kathryn of Meridian, Mississippi, Chad Monsour and his wife Shelley of Monroe, Louisiana, and Todd Monsour and his wife Heather of Brandon, Mississippi; his sister, Dot Pittman of Corinth, Mississippi; his grandchildren, Hays Monsour, Anniston Monsour, Stelynn Monsour, Rosemary Monsour, Holden Monsour, Blake McMullen, Payton McMullen, and Max Seshagiri; his great-grandson, Riggs Monsour-Och; sisters-in-law Virginia Monsour and Kay Monsour; his nieces, Rebecca Williams Lewis (Rick), Amy Williams Barnes (Johnny), Ginger Monsour, Deborah Monsour Sebrell (Trey), Kate Monsour, and Caroline Monsour Stuckey (Ward); and numerous great and great great nieces and nephews.

Bill graduated from H. V. Cooper High School in 1967, and he remained proud of his school days throughout his life. He cherished his classmates and looked forward to the many Greenie gatherings he attended over the years. Those friendships and memories stayed close to his heart, and he spoke of them with the same warmth and enthusiasm that he brought to every part of his life.

Bill was a salesman by nature and built a successful career through hard work, integrity, and perseverance. He earned many sales awards before retiring from Fuelman. In his work, as in his personal life, he was dependable, personable, and respected by those who knew him. He had a natural ability to connect with people, and his professional success reflected both his skill and his character.

Bill was a devoted fan of the LSU Tigers and loved cheering them on. He enjoyed the simple pleasures of life and found his greatest happiness in time spent with family and friends. His love for others was evident in the way he listened, encouraged, and cared.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Jackson Oncology Associates, Ridgeland Place, and VitalCaring for their kindness, love and support.

The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 12, 2026, in the chapel of Monsour and Patin Funeral Directors, 1830 Cherry Street, Vicksburg, Visitation will begin at 12 Noon at the funeral home. A graveside will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
