Shirley Kirby Nichols passed away on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 in Vicksburg, Miss. She was 83 years old.
VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Shirley Kirby Nichols passed away on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 in Vicksburg, Miss. She was 83 years old.
Nichols was born in Rosedale, Miss., on July 27, 1943 to John Andrew Boyd and Lela Mae Morin Boyd. She loved spending time with her family and split her time traveling between Kansas City, Rolling Fork, and Vicksburg so that she could spend as much time with her grandchildren and siblings as she possibly could. She also enjoyed cooking in her spare time.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Leonard Bradford Kirby, Jr. and siblings: Christine Beliew, Betty Bishop, Sue Golden, Billy Boyd, and Bobby Boyd.
She is survived by son, Sean Kirby and daughter, Renae Cornejo; brother, John Simmons Boyd and sister, Ann McPhail; 13 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Glenwood Funeral Home in Vicksburg, Miss., on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026 from 1 p.m. until the hour of the memorial service at 3 p.m. Rev. Tony Winkler will officiate.
