Truett was born March 13 1943, to Johnny Thomas Craft and Leatha Elizabeth Dilmore Craft.aa
Truett’s Family and Legacy
He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife of 57 years, Jessie Annette Ross Craft; brothers, James Travis Craft, Paul Craft, and Claude Craft; foster son, Paul Champion; and sisters, Roma Mae Craft Magee and Nedia Craft Johnson.
He is survived by his son, Jon Anthony Craft (Maggie) of Brandon, MS and grandchildren, Hayden Craft, Holden Craft, Paula Champion, and Landon Champion. He is also survived by brothers-in-law, David Wilson and Larry B. Ross; sisters-in-law, Flora Bell aka Sissy (Ross) Breaux, Janet (Emmert) Craft, Joann (Nobles) Craft; and many nieces and nephews. He and his loving wife Annette opened their hearts and home to 13 foster children, among them, Ragene Duffie, Melinda Johnson, Robin Necaise, Ricky McCann, Forrest McCann, and Rhea Estes.
Truett’s Career and Hobbies
Truett graduated from Mendenhall High School in 1962.a He was a devoted husband who dedicated his life to hard work and caring for those he loved.a He worked at Cal Maine in egg and dairy production for over 40 years.a He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting and spending time with family.
The family wishes to express our heartfelt gratitude and thanks to the members of Vital Care Service and caregivers who provided compassionate care and comfort during Truett’s final days.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2026, from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Glenwood Funeral Home in Utica, MS, with Rev. Brad Hartzog officiating.a Visitation will be 10 a.m. until the hour of the service.a Burial with a brief service will follow in Utica Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Craft, Timothy Craft, Larry Estes, Rodrick McCann, Scott Sigrest and Alex Thomas.a Honorary pallbearers will be John Craft, Paul Craft, Jr., Tony Thomas, Larry B. Ross, Bill Gill, John Barry and Terry Tharp.a
