John Henry Tyler Jr.: 1958-2025

VICKSBURG, Miss. — Graveside services for John Henry Tyler Jr. will be held at noon Saturday, April 5, at Cedar Hill Cemetery, with the Rev. Kevin Winters officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 6 p.m. Friday, April 4, at the W.H. Jefferson funeral home.
John Henry Tyler passed away on March 21 in Buffalo, N.Y., following a brief illness. He was 67.
Affectionately known as “Jabo,” Tyler served in the U.S. Army, including a tour in Vietnam.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Henry Tyler Sr.; his sister, Dora Ann Tyler; his brother, Robert Earl Tyler; and his stepfather, Rubin Kelly.
He is survived by his mother, Earline Nailor Tyler Kelly; his daughter, Keisha Tyler Anderson of Vicksburg; and a stepdaughter, Kendra Stanton of Toronto. He is also survived by three sons, Jermaine Tyler of Toronto and Justin Harris and Jamie Woods, both of Vicksburg; five grandchildren; and three sisters, Joyce Tyler and Nikole Tyler Jones, both of Vicksburg, and Rachel Ray Tyler of Jackson, Miss.
He leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins, as well as extended family members, including the King, Johnson, Woods, Pampley, and Roundtree families.
