Vicksburg, Mississippi-A huge performance by Cynia Johnson helped Vicksburg High School girls’ basketball to a 59-47 win over Warren Central on Tuesday.

“We came out a little slow at first but we quickly got it together because this is a big rivalry game but it wasn’t as easy as we thought,” Johnson said. “Coach Stewart preached to us at halftime to not come out slacking so we did what we had to do to win.”

Johnson led the Missy Gators 21 points and 16 rebounds in the win which marked the second time this season that VHS defeated WC.

The Missy Gators started the game off with a 3-pointer from Jordan Grace which was followed up with a nice layup by WC’s Camara Evans. By the end of the first quarter, VHS was up 14-10. Zion Harvey came alive in the second quarter by scoring 10 points in the quarter alone but Evans continued to dominate for WC as they trailed 27-20 going into halftime.
