Lady Eagles crushed Humphreys 60-21 in their season opener
Porter’s Chapel Academy girls’ basketball team started their season off with a bang as they took down Humphrey’s Academy 60-21.
“For this to be our first game I would say we did great and I can see our season going wonderful,” Jae’la Smith said. Our work ethic and communication kept us focus throughout the night.”
The first quarter belonged to the Lady Eagles as Lauren Madison scored 10 of her 20 points in that quarter alone. Two 3-pointers from Marley Bufkin and a couple of layups by Smith helped PCA take a 25-8 lead. By halftime the Lady Eagles was up 31-14.
Coming out of halftime, Smith took control of the game by scoring 13 points in the third quarter while Sophie Masterson knocked down a 3-pointer. Masterson would hit another 3-pointer in the fourth quarter while Madison put up a couple of buckets.
Smith led PCA with 22 points and 10 rebounds while Madison finished with a career-high of 20 on the board and 10 rebounds.
“We did great but we made plenty of mistakes so we have a lot of work to do but our goal is to keep getting better,” Madison said.
Masterson finished with 10 points and seven rebounds while Bufkin added eight points and four assists.
PCA will travel to face Jackson Victors on Tuesday.
