Lady Flashes opened their season with a shutout victory

Game One:

St. Aloysius opened their season with a 14-0 shutout victory over Carroll Academy.

The Lady Flashes went up 4-0 in the first inning after a two-run single from Mallory Spencer and a one-run triple from Kennadi Blassingame. Madison Spencer also hit an RBI. Ruthie Britton hit a double in the first inning while Kyleigh Cooper hit a single.

After a nice single from Landy Elqadi, sophomore Megan Theriot smashed a triple that earned St. Al their fifth run. Madison Spencer then hit a ground ball to put the Lady Flashes up 6-0 in the second. Cooper sent two batters back to the dugout to keep CA scoreless heading into the third inning.

Blassingame used her speed to grab a steal at home that added a run in the third while Madelyn Kavanaugh hit a double to bring in another run. Cooper was next to contribute as she nailed a double along with Theriot and Madison Spencer to give St. Al the 11-0 lead.

Walks and a steal from Presley Carr and Kavanaugh ended the game with St. Al winning 14-0.

Madison Spencer(2 RBI), Cooper(1 RBI), and Theriot(2 RBIs) all went 2 for 3 at the plate. Blassingame(1 RBI), Mallory Spencer(2 RBI), Britton, Kavanaugh(2 RBI), and Elqadi all had one hit.

Cooper only allowed one hit and struck out eight batters.

Game two:
The Lady Flashes made a comeback but fell short 6-4 against Calhoun Academy in game two. St. Al was down 4-0 early in the game until they eventually got on the board after a single by Cooper. In the fourth inning, Britton hit her first home run of the year which was followed by RBIs from Mageigh Haller and Elqadi.

Late hits provided two more runs for Calhoun as they finished with the win.

Kavanaugh, Cooper(1 RBI), and Britton(1 RBI) all had two hits while Mallory Spencer and Elqadi both had one hit.  Cooper struck out four batters.

St. Al will be back in action tomorrow.
