RAYMOND, Miss. (VDN) — The Lendon Players, based at Hinds Community College’s Raymond Campus, will perform Larry Shue’s comedy The Foreigner April 14–17 in Brooks Theatre.

Set in a fishing lodge in rural Georgia, the play follows “Froggy” LeSueur, a British demolition expert who often visits the lodge while conducting training sessions at a nearby Army base. On this trip, he brings along his friend Charlie, a pathologically shy young man terrified of speaking to strangers.

To ease the tension, Froggy tells the group that Charlie is from a foreign country and does not speak English. Once Froggy leaves, the comedic twists begin, as Charlie overhears more than he should.

A musical ensemble led by music instructor Brett Causey will perform at 6:30 p.m., followed by the play at 7 p.m. General admission tickets for The Foreigner are $8, student tickets are $5, and Hinds employees are admitted free. Tickets should be purchased online in advance, though limited tickets will be available at the door. Debit or credit card only.

Hinds Community College is also hosting the 2025 Annual Student Art Exhibit at the Marie Hull Gallery on the Raymond Campus.

A closing reception and awards celebration for the artists will be held at 3 p.m. May 1 in the gallery and will include live music.

Gallery hours are 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Friday.
