Local Senior Olympics to Be Hosted at First Baptist Church
The First Baptist Church, located at 1708 Cherry Street, is gearing up to host a Senior Olympics event on May 17th. Starting at 10 a.m. in the church parking lot, the event aims to bring together seniors for a day of camaraderie and friendly competition.
Participants will compete in five categories, with all games operating on a point system. The top three scorers will receive special recognition, while every participant will take home an award for their efforts. The opening ceremony will include a torch relay from inside the church to the designated games area, followed by a pledge, a heartfelt rendition of “Lean on Me” sung by the participants, and a moment of prayer.
After the games conclude, the awards ceremony will recognize the top performers and refreshments will be served. The organizers invite community members to come out, and cheer on the competitors.
