MDOT completes work ahead of schedule on I-20
The Mississippi Department of Transportation has announced that its work on the westbound lanes of Interstate 20 has been completed ahead of schedule.
MDOT closed a portion of the highway west of Jackson to make repairs on a bridge. Westbound lanes closed Friday, Oct. 25. Based on the original schedule, they were to remain closed until Thursday, Oct. 31.
“Crews worked incredibly hard to get this open a full day and a half ahead of schedule,” MDOT wrote on its Facebook page.
Work on the eastbound lanes was also completed ahead of schedule. Those lanes closed Friday, Oct. 18, and MDOT reopened them about a day earlier than the schedule predicted.
Roughly 93,000 cars and trucks per day were rerouted during the construction.
