deer season

Dear Mississippi Hunter,

As the seasons change and cooler weather rolls in, excitement builds as hunters across the state prepare to take to the woods for the start of deer season.

This season we encourage you to share a hunting trip with someone new and pass on your knowledge and skills to the next generation of hunters. Few things are better than helping someone new harvest their first deer. Make that moment memorable with a First Deer Certificate. You can receive your own certificate by going to the First Deer Certificate page on our website.

It’s more than just a hunt – it’s a way of life. A majority of hunters underutilize their bag limits and harvest less than 2 deer a year. This season we are stepping back into the woods and urging Mississippi hunters to harvest more deer. With deer population numbers rising in large portions of the state, we are urging hunters to join us on this vital mission to ensure a stable deer population. Harvest more than a memory this hunting season, harvest a brighter future for generations to come.

We hope you enjoy the abundant resources Mississippi has to offer as you make new memories with friends and loved ones this season.

See You Outdoors!
