Metal Detectors Placed at both VHS and WC

Vicksburg, Miss. – Metal Detectors are now part of the Vicksburg-Warren School District and have been placed at both Vicksburg and Warren Central High Schools.
Sources indicate that they have been in full use since Wednesday, February 19, 2025.
The metal detectors come from Evolv Technology. According to the company’s website, “Our mission is to help make places safer for people to live, work, learn, and play. Evolv aims to help organizations detect potential threats, mitigate risk, and enhance safety using AI-powered security solutions with robust insights.” Utilizing AI technology, the screening system can detect weapons and other illegal objects on a school campus including vapes.
The new metal detectors have been discussed in the past, but they are now a reality within the school district. In a town hall meeting held last year, Lt. Donnie Heggins, Narcotics Division, mentioned that once metal detectors were installed in the schools, the K9 units would return to the schools.
An official press release has not been sent out by the Vicksburg Warren School District at this time.
