RIDGELAND, Miss. – The Missy Gators soccer team improved to 10-6 on the year after defeating Ridgeland 2-1 on the road on Friday.
Amari Johnson scored both of the Missy Gators’ goals in the win. One came from a corner kick from Trinity McGloster and one from a fast break as Kennedy Mullins picked up the assist. Lili Kister finished with eight saves in the win.
“The girls executed our game plan tonight and we minimized the turnovers, attacked the open space, and capitalized on goal-scoring opportunities,” VHS Head Coach Maurice Gilliam said. “I am very proud of them, we had a great week of preparation, and we needed this win.”
The VHS boys took a 7-0 loss to Ridgeland. They were able to hold the Titans to 3-0 at halftime. Arthur Davis had 15 saves and Cameron Nailor had two shots on goal.
