One arrested for violent child abuse

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Vicksburg Police Department arrested one Saturday, March 28, on charges of violent abuse of a child. 

VPD officials said the suspect was identified as Danthony Delzarae Dorsey, 27, was arrested Saturday on unrelated charges. Investigators with the department received notification from Adam’s County that Dorsey had a warrant for child abuse dating back to February 2025 and had been on the run from officers. 

According to reports, investigation began when Child Protective Services requested law enforcement officers assist on a home visit under suspicion of child neglect. 

Upon investigation, officers found children in need of medical attention. 

Dorsey was charged with three counts of child abuse. 

VPD said no other arrests are expected in the case.
