VPD nets one after attempted fleeing

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Today, Wednesday, March 18, Vicksburg Police Department placed a man in cuffs after he attempted to flee from officers.

VDP officers attempted to serve a misdemeanor warrant when the individual fled on foot. Officers conducted a brief search in the immediate area, which according to the department is a standard procedure. The individual was located and taken into custody without incident.

According to eyewitness reports, the incident occurred near Clay Street and Farmer Street in Vicksburg.

VPD has identified the individual as Steven Hayes, 31. Hayes was charged with trespassing, malicious mischief and simple assault creating fear.
