VICSKBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Vicksburg Police Department has issued a warning to the public to lock vehicle doors.

According to reports, a video started circulating on social media when a home camera caught two people dressed all in black trying to get into their vehicle Saturday, March 14.

Police say this was not the first incident to occur. The suspects are targeting vehicles that are unlocked and make easy targets to loot for valuables inside the vehicles.

VPD officials are searching for any information on the two individuals, and are using the opportunity to remind residents to lock their vehicles.

A release from the statement stated the following, “We are aware of recent incidents involving individuals attempting to open car doors in residential areas. At this time, we do not have identifying information on those involved. We ask that all residents please remember to remove all valuables and firearms from your vehicles and ensure your vehicle doors are locked at all times. If you notice any suspicious activity, report it immediately to 911.”

Anyone with information on the break-ins are encouraged to contact VPD at 601-636-2511.
