Human remains found in Claiborne County; investigation underway

CLAIBORNE COUNTY, Miss.(VDN) — Human remains were discovered in Claiborne County on Monday after a hunter reportedly came across a badly decomposed body just off Highway 18 near the former Club Old School.

Authorities said the body appears to be that of a Black male, but the identity has not yet been determined.

Claiborne County Coroner Kieon Neal responded to the scene. Claiborne County Sheriff Edward Goods has referred the case to the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation for further investigation.

The decomposed remains have been sent to the Mississippi State Crime Lab.
