Three injured by gunfire after disturbance

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Three people were injured by gunfire Saturday night after a disturbance on Hayes Street, near Clay, in Vicksburg.

Around 9:15 p.m., a disturbance at the apartments on Hayes Street, off of Clay in Vicksburg, escalated into gunfire. 911 dispatchers were on the phone with a person calling in the disturbance and heard the gunshots. Police were dispatched to the scene and found no one there.

A few minutes later, dispatchers reported that three people with gunshot wounds were at the hospital. There is no report on the condition of the gunshot victims at this time.

Numerous units from the city and county are at the hospital, controlling the scene.

The identity of the shooter is known to the police.
