PCA cheerleader Madison Grey signs with Delta State University
Porter’s Chapel Academy’s Madison Grey signed a cheerleading scholarship to Delta State University on Friday.
After participating in a cheer clinic last month, Grey was contacted by the DSU Coach and ultimately decided to attend the school.
Cheering has been a part of Madison’s life since seventh grade. “In seventh grade, we went to a cheer camp, and Mrs. Nikki made me a flyer (the ones that get thrown in the air), and that was very eventful,” Grey joked.
Grey went on to cheer throughout high school, and she recalled that being at the football games with the other cheerleaders was one of her fondest memories. “We treated each other like family and those are some times we never forget,” Grey added.
Madison also competed in cheer for the River City Tumble & Cheer and was named an All-American at the UCA Camp at Mississippi State University. Before signing with DSU, Grey received interest from various community colleges and universities, such as Ole Miss and the University of Louisiana Monroe.
Although Grey worked hard to achieve this goal, she didn’t hesitate to thank those who helped along the way. “I want to thank my family, friends, coaches, and everyone who stood by me on this journey,” she said.
Madison is the daughter of Randall Grey and Lauren DeRossette and plans to major in nursing.
