PCA earns district win over Franklin Academy; St. Al defeats Copiah Academy

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Porter’s Chapel Academy and St. Aloysius each secured key district wins Tuesday night, with the Eagles defeating Franklin Academy 6-4 and the Flashes edging Copiah Academy 3-2.

Porter’s Chapel Academy

Porter’s Chapel (2-2 district) rallied from an early deficit to take down Franklin Academy on Tuesday, with a final score of 6-4.

Franklin Academy scored the first two runs of the game in the third inning to go up 2-0. PCA quickly responded by tying the game at 2-2 when Evan Gordon hit a fly ball that brought in two runs. 

By the end of the fifth, the score was tied at 4-4. Cameron Potter hit a game-changing triple and took off running afterward to score. Landon McCullough also hit an RBI from a bunt. 

The final two runs came in the sixth inning when Gordon hit a nice one that led to Potter and Grayson Price running home.

Porter went 3 for 4 in the win and Chad Fuson struck out 11 batters.

St. Aloysius

The Flashes are now 13-7 after defeating Copiah Academy 3-2 on Tuesday.

Laken Bradley put St. Al on the board after a single in the first inning. Carson Smith hit a single as well to give the Flashes the 2-1 lead in the third inning.

By the seventh inning, the score was tied at 2-2 until Walt Andrews brought in the final RBI from a single.

Clark Hobson struck out three batters in the win and Andrews struck out two. Laken Bradley(1 RBI), Smith(1 RBI), Andrews(1 RBI), William Roberson and Max Hargrave all had one hit in the win.

The Flashes will travel to Copiah on Friday.
