PCA Grabbed an Overtime Win on Senior Night

Vicksburg, Miss.-Marley Bufkin and Sophie Masterson ended their senior night on a high night as they led Porter’s Chapel Academy girls’ basketball to a 35-30 win over Prairie View Academy on Thursday. The hard-fought game went into overtime with the score tied at 26-26 at the end of the fourth quarter.

The Lady Eagles started the game off with two 3-pointers by Bufkin and a shot by Mia Abdo as they trailed 11-8. Bufkin hit another 3-pointer in the second quarter while Masterson knocked down a couple of free throws to go with Kendall Smith’s layup as they took the 17-16 halftime lead.

PCA let their lead slip away in the third and was forced to play catch-up in the fourth. Bufkin and Abdo saved the day in the fourth quarter with some key shots.

Bufkin took control of overtime as she scored 8 of PCA’s 9 points to win the game. She led the team with 26 points, four rebounds, and four steals.

Masterson(10 rebounds)and Abdo both added four points each while Smith(7 rebounds)scored two points and Audrey Carraway hit a free throw:

Boys:

The PCA boys fell short 79-50 against Prairie View Academy.

Schaffer Bell led the Eagles with 17 points and 12 rebounds while Morris Bailey had 13 points and 11 rebounds. Clayton McClure scored eight points while Coltin Hancock and Tyler Hatler both scored five points each. Austin Moore grabbed seven rebounds and two points.

PCA will host Central Holmes on Monday where only the varsity teams will play.
