Pedestrian hit, hospitalized after Clay St. crash

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle Wednesday morning at the intersection of Clay and Locust streets, prompting a response from the Vicksburg Fire Department.

At approximately 10:36 a.m. on Wednesday, May 14, the Vicksburg Fire Department responded to a call of a pedestrian hit by a vehicle at the intersection of Clay and Locust streets. Crews arrived on the scene and found a 40-year-old man lying on the ground in visible distress. Vicksburg Fire Chief Derrick Stamps said the ambulance crew immediately assessed the man’s injuries and worked to stabilize him at the scene.

“The team carefully assessed his injuries thoroughly, ensuring his safety and stability, before gently securing him onto a spine board,” said Stamps. “After stabilization, the man was swiftly transported to the University of Mississippi Medical Center for further evaluation and treatment.”
