Ralph D. Morgan: 1958-2025
VICKSBURG, Miss. — With heavy hearts and enduring love, we remember Ralph D. Morgan, who was born on November 17, 1958, to the late Melvin and Alberta Morgan Sr. Ralph passed away on July 2, 2025.
From the very beginning, Ralph was a light—his warm spirit and infectious personality made it nearly impossible for him to meet a stranger. If you knew Ralph, you knew joy, laughter, and genuine connection.
Ralph was baptized at New Mt. Zion M.B. Church, where he served faithfully as an usher, exemplifying humility and kindness through his quiet acts of service.
A proud graduate of Vicksburg High School, Ralph discovered a passion for music early in life. He played the trombone with a soulful rhythm that caught the attention of many and ultimately earned him a full scholarship to Alcorn State University. His gift of music reflected the deeper harmony he brought to those around him-comforting, energizing, and always in tune with the people he loved.
Throughout his career, Ralph wore many hats, each showcasing his unmatched people skills and heart for service. He served as a dedicated manager at Wendy’s, a talented floral assistant at Helen’s Florist, and a skilled catering assistant with Helen Abraham Catering.
Whether he was managing a team, arranging blooms, or helping serve meals at events, Ralph carried himself with pride, excellence, and an ever-present smile.
To know Ralph was to be in community. He had a witty sense of humor, an open heart, and a name that carried weight. If you needed a connection, you only had to say “Ralph Morgan,” and doors would open. His charisma created bridges across families, neighborhoods, and generations. Friends became family, and family became his legacy.
Ralph now joins his beloved parents, Melvin Sr. and Alberta, and cherished nieces NaTasha Wright and Avis Banks, in eternal peace. He leaves behind a family who adored him deeply: his loving siblings-Debra (Frederick) Banks, Melvin Morgan Jr., Belva John) Reed, Francine (Robert) Nichols, Glenda (Dennis) Brandon, Jessica Morgan, and Allison (Andre’) Bailey.
He was a proud and present uncle to Latonya (Jermaine) Smith, Dior Nichols, Shannon (Cornelius) Royal, Fre-Dreana (Corey) Rowster, Kre’Tonia Morgan, Jasmine Morgan, Ka’La Reed, Taylor Evans, Joshua Brandon, Nicholas Bailey, Breanna Evans, Morgan Bailey, Xavier Evans, and a host of great-nieces and great-nephews who will forever carry his spirit with them.
Ralph D. Morgan’s life was a living testament to joy, generosity, and unconditional love he spread with a simple phrase “love youuu”. His name, his smile, and his stories will be spoken for generations to come.
A service will be held Saturday, July 12, at 11 a.m. at CJ Williams Mortuary Center, 1625 Monroe Street, Vicksburg.
