A recent 2026 graduate of Clinton High School was killed in a car crash over the weekend.

The Hinds County coroner confirmed that 17-year-old Ashlee Sumrall was the victim of a crash Saturday on Highway 49 at Cynthia Road in Jackson.

Police said two other teens in the vehicle were injured, along with the driver of the second vehicle involved in the crash.

Sumrall was a longtime member of the Clinton High School swim team, where she served as a team leader, and the Clinton Band Program, where she played the bass clarinet.

“There are truly no words that can fully ease the pain of losing someone so young, so vibrant, and so full of promise,” Clinton Public School District Superintendent Dr. Andy Schoggin said. “When a graduate passes away, the loss is felt across every hallway, classroom and corner of our district.”

A GoFundMe page has been set up for Sumrall’s family.
