29 graduate from Prison to Possibilities Program in Mississippi
JEFFERSON COUNTY, Miss. (VDN) —
The Mississippi Department of Corrections is recognizing 29 inmates at Jefferson-Franklin Regional Correctional Facility for graduating from the Prison to Possibilities Program, a 26-week initiative aimed at rehabilitation, personal growth and successful reentry into society.
The program focused on developing communication skills, decision-making, conflict resolution, goal setting, emotional intelligence and personal responsibility. Participants completed classroom instruction, group discussions, journaling, scenario-based learning and self-evaluation exercises designed to prepare them to become productive members of their communities after release.
“This program demonstrates the importance of providing meaningful opportunities for rehabilitation and personal development,” Derrick Chambers, director of Private and Regional Facilities and Joint County-State Work Programs, said in a statement. “When individuals are given the tools, guidance and support to make positive changes, the results can be life-changing.”
The department praised the leadership and staff at Jefferson-Franklin Regional Correctional Facility for their continued commitment to rehabilitation and reentry efforts.
MDOC also recognized Kim Nugent for her leadership and dedication to expanding programs that provide incarcerated individuals with opportunities for personal development.
“The success of these graduates reflects MDOC’s ongoing commitment to preparing incarcerated individuals for successful reintegration while promoting safer communities throughout Mississippi,” Chambers said.
The department congratulated all 29 graduates on completing the program, calling the milestone a significant step toward a successful transition back into their communities.
